・About |
The PC-FX is a home video game console released by NEC Home Electronics in December 1994. It was released as the successor to the PC Engine, and is not backward compatible with the PC Engine. While its 3D performance is weak, it has strong 2D performance, and many animation-based games were released. Another feature of this console is that many games were ported from the PC-98 series. Due to a lack of titles and inferior graphic performance, it lost out to competition from PlayStation and Saturn, which were released in the same year. This machine was the last game console released by NEC.

The only dedicated PC-FX emulator is MagicEngine FX, but it is shareware. Therefore, I recommend the use of a multi-emulator.
It can be played with integrated graphics without any problems. To run on anything other than MagicEngine FX, a PC-FX BIOS is required.

MagicEngine FX | ||
The only PC-FX exclusive emulator. It is highly complete and can run most games. No BIOS is required, so anyone can easily start the game. It is shareware for approximately 30 US$.
|
Mednafen | ||
This is a multi-emulator compatible with PC-FX. PC-FX BIOS is required to operate.
|
RetroArch | ||
The interface is sophisticated and rich in useful features, and it supports more than 70 game consoles and PCs as well as PC-FX. After installing RetroArch, you will be able to play PC-FX games by selecting and downloading the body of the emulator, called a core. The name of the core to download is "NEC - PC-FX (Beetle PC-FX)". PC-FX BIOS is required to operate.
